Habitat Box monitoring in Leny Woods

Loading Events

*** Activity cancelled due to recent Government guidance ***

Join us for our volunteer day in Leny Woods.  We will be working alongside Katy from Forestry and Land Scotland to monitor the bird, bat and owl boxes that we have installed. We will be seeing what species have used the boxes, recording our findings and clearing out the boxes ready for the next season.  Due to where the boxes are located, we will be walking over rough, sloped and uneven terrain.  All activities will be run by a leader and full instruction and supervision will be provided. No experience needed! Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

We have a Covid specific risk assessment in place to help us maintain the safety of our staff and volunteers. The risk assessment will be emailed out to volunteers along with the joining instructions for the day. Some general guidance is included in the PDF document below.

CLP Covid Volunteering Guidance

Please remember that is up to each individual to decide if volunteering is appropriate for you at this time. We want everyone to take care of themselves and their families, so please don’t worry if volunteering is not right for you at the moment. If you are in a high risk group, for example: over 70 years old, have pre-existing medical conditions, are shielding, live with people who are high risk, or if you have any concerns then please get in touch so we can discuss if volunteering is right at this time.

Places must be booked in advance. To book email julie.wilson@lochlomond-trossachs.org or call 07709 404 431.

Accessibility Information:

Please note there are no public toilets in the woods.

We will be walking on woodland paths and then on rough, uneven and sloped terrain.

It will be a small friendly group and most people won’t know each other.

Please note at the moment we are not able to offer transport from Callander to Leny Woods, so volunteers must be able to make their own way there. Travel expenses can be claimed back.
