Trowels at the ready! You can now sign up to volunteer for our excavations at Leny Woods!

Leny Woods is situated at the Highland Boundary Fault and holds archaeological sites from the prehistoric period, Roman occupation, Medieval period, and beyond. Our community archaeology training programme will help us discover more about this unique area and develop your skills in archaeological research and surveying.

These volunteering opportunities are structured as three-day blocks of training and you are welcome to sign up for several blocks if you wish:

  • Block 1: Wednesday 8th/Thursday 9th/Friday 10th May
  • Block 2: Saturday 11th/Sunday 12th/Monday 13th May
  • Block 3: Wednesday 15th/Thursday 16th/Friday 17th May
  • Block 4: Saturday 18th/Monday 20th/Tuesday 21st May

Individuals, families, and groups of people are all welcome to get involved and volunteer. All activities will be run by a leader and full instruction and supervision will be provided. No experience is needed! More information will be provided in due course, but we anticipate being out on-site from 9.00 – 4.30pm each day. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. Please get in touch to sign up for one or more of these blocks of training.
