While we may not be able to deliver our family activities and volunteer events at the moment, we are able to run John Muir Awards for families and individuals. The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme open to everyone. It is a great way for families to spend time together while boosting confidence, having fun and working towards a shared goal.
There are four steps you need to complete in order to achieve a John Muir Award:
1. Discover – Find a wild place in your local area. This can be a park, your garden, local woods or any green space that you can easily access.
2. Explore – Get out into it. What can you find, how can you have fun?
3. Conserve – How can you look after it, what can be done to improve the area?
4. Share – This is about showing people what you have been up to and sharing the positive message.
There are three levels of award; the Discovery Award only requires a time commitment of 4 days (or 24+ hours equivalent) and you choose when to undertake your activities. Our Volunteering and Activities Officer, Julie will be on hand to run the award, provide you with challenges and activities to try in your own time and will take care of the paperwork.
We will be running the award during July and August, so sign up before Sunday 12th July.
If you are interested in taking part as a family or as an individual then please get in touch with Julie who will get you registered – email@example.com
